Since we (the general community) have limited insight into what is happening in the private board discussions, we can only work with what we have. When a mundane issue like this is discussed and decided privately, it shows that there is an issue with openness and transparency.

If you’ve worked with markmc for any amount of time, you know that he’s been a huge advocate pushing for transparency and openness for years. Not to put words in his mouth, but I’m pretty sure his statement has nothing to do with bringing up a transparency issue of any kind and more to do with the tone and approach we use in the discussion. There are definitely effective and ineffective tactics for bringing people into a discussion or constructive debate, and I believe he is encouraging us to have that kind of constructive discussion.
