Hello trainers and volunteer mentors, it's time: we start on Saturday morning. Like in other times, we should meet on Friday evening before the start to give one first look at the rooms and review the plan together. I am landing in YVR tomorrow at 4pm. We should try to meet, maybe around 7:30pm or so. How about we meet at the bar of the Pacific Rim hotel at 7:30pm? I'll be checking my email and hang out on IRC, too. There are still a couple of patches to the training material that need to land but all in all I'm not very concerned about these. https://review.openstack.org/#/q/project:openstack/training-guides+status:o… We have been offered $500 worth of public clouds by Citicloud and free accounts on OVH, plus Dreamhost and HP have free trials. [openstack-community] [upstream] call for actions to attendants, teachers and and mentors

Hello trainers, I'd like to pick your brain to finalize the call to action for the trainees in Vancouver. In past editions Loic had them start working before the session started and select bugs for them to work on. I think some of them found it difficult and didn't do it. It's a valuable exercise though and We can ask them to do it but I don't expect many of them to do it. On the other hand I'd like them to focus on setting up the basic for the dev environment. I'm drafting the message to send them on https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/upstream-letter using Loic's message as a base. Please review it and let me know by tomorrow what edits it needs. We have a trello board with all the participants names and details on https://trello.com/b/iuJab0VH/openstack-upstream-training-queue. I think the best way to use it is to wait until we meet in person in Vancouver: - we'll hide the no-show from that list - have each participant pick the bug and add it to their trello card - each participant picks a mentor (more than one participant per mentor) and sets date for online meeting and we all keep moving the cards to the appropriate lists. Hopefully this will give us more control and visibility of the results of the training. ACTION: spread the word that we need more bugs tagged Low Hanging Fruit. There aren't many. ACTION: review the slides! Dear all, in our openstack cluster, we would restrict the actions that users can do with security group and security group rules. Here's what we'd like to achieve: 1. Lock down security group (and rules) so that only admin (or tenant admin?) can modify them. 2. Add additional rules to the default security group. Can you please give me some advices on how to achieve these goals? Hello all, I'm testing Openstack at home, I already success create instance with private IP adddress and floating IP address, but I have question how to let external user access to instance, and intance access to internet, the following description is my network settings: 1. My home network is 172.28.0.0/16 and router gateway is 172.28.0.254 2. Private network for instance is 10.0.47.0/24 3. Bridge interface named br100 with eth0 is 172.28.0.1 1. My concept is add static route (destination 10.0.47.0/24 via 172.28.0.1 Bridge interface IP) and port forward in router, let user can reach instance. 2. Because instance private IP address assigned by dnsmasq, so I think use the following nova-network command can access to internet: nova-manage network create private --fixed_range_v4=10.0.47.0/24 --num_networks=1 --bridge=br100 --bridge_interface=eth0 --network_size=255 Please give me idea, thanks.

Hello folks I have closed the waiting list today, we're set for Vancouver. I will send on last message next week to the students with detailed instructions to select a bug for themselves and get ready with devstack environments. The training material needs some love. Checkout the training-guides repository: git clone git://git.openstack.org/openstack/training-guides build the Upstream slides: tox -e upstream-slides And see in doc/upstream-training/build/slides what needs to be changed.
