[openstack-community] Regarding Tempest for Integration testing of Openstack Environment

Hello, I am trying to do Integration testing of Openstack environmment (Devstack) using Tempest. I have my setup with multi node installation of Devstack i.e. one controller and one compute node. On controller node I am having my Tempest root directory and I have also installed Coverage, Tissue and Openstack-nose as it was mentioned in the setup.cfg file. I have also changed the tempest.conf file according to my localrc file. I am totally new to Tempest and trying to have hand on this. Currently I am running tests in the directory " tempest/tests ". But although most of the tests are OK, I am getting some tests FAILED and in some tests some errors (I have attached a file containing its total output). I am having some issues like : 1). whenever I am running any test I am getting a WARNING. I am running using : ~/tempest$ nosetests -v --with-tissue --tissue-color --with-openstack tempest/tests 2). when I am running entire tempest/tests it is showing total 350 tests, but where are all these tests. I am not finding them anywhere ? 3). when I ran tempest/tests/network and tempest/tests/image individually, I got 0 test results. Don't know why it is so ? 4). I want to understand the test scripts already provided and then to write my own. But I am not getting that from where (which test) I should start because I am new to Python also ? 5). I want to now more about functioning of Tempest and Nose. Could you please suggest me some useful tutorials or links for beginners. I am attaching a file containing the test results on my setup. Hello All, In the Dashboard, local_settings.py, the EMAIL related settings are enabled but not working. To confirm the 'python+django+email' settings, i did check with django's send_mail() function and it worked fine. Someone has also asked the question which is related to this but i was not able to continue that thread. (don't know) - Thread name 'Re: Create new Public User' My goal is to send mail to users when create/delete/modify the instance. Please give some suggestions.. Python is very new to me but i will try... Thanks in advance. Regards, Vivek

Hi All, I want to try setup openstack essex using ubuntu 12.04.But i just have 1 network interface. Almost all documentation always give instruction on 2 network interface. Can i setup and configure Openstack with 1 network interface ? Help me to solve this problem ?

[openstack-community] OpenStack Summit Tracks & Topics

Hi everyone, We're planning the next OpenStack Summit, October 15-18, and wanted share the current thinking around tracks/topics and get input. Based on the feedback from the last event, people wanted more design summit working sessions, more conference-style sessions (presentations/panels) and more hands-on workshops. To accommodate more content overall, the previously separate Design Summit (3 days) and Conference (2 days) events now run in parallel as one OpenStack Summit (4 days). You can review the original community discussion about the format change here --http://www.openstack.org/blog/2012/06/openstack-summit-coming-october-15th-19th-to-san-diego-ca/ This means if you're a developer attending the Design Summit, you would attend Monday - Thursday. If you're a technical practitioner, you may also want to attend all four days for the Operations Summit (we're dedicating more time to it this year) and workshops happening Monday and Thursday. But for the majority of folks, the main days of the Summit with keynote speakers and presentations/panels will be Tuesday and Wednesday. We have a public google doc with the list of proposed tracks, including the Design Summit topics, and a short description of each. We've also included a proposed schedule to give a general idea how things would run, but there might be some minor adjustments. We are also planning to have track chairs from various disciplines and organizations help fill in the gaps and shape out the rest of the schedule. Please take a look at the google doc, and we would appreciate any feedback on the current tracks -- whether the topic is not necessary or needs less time, there's something missing, or the definition/scope could be changed.
