Our OpenStack Northwest User Group http://www.meetup.com/OpenStack-Northwest is getting very popular very quickly. About 60 stackers attended last meetup in Portland where presenters from DetaCloud, DreamHost, SwiftStack and EMC focused on OpenStack storage. Next meetup is scheduled for Feb 5 and the focus this time is on networking. We are looking for speakers who can discuss SDN, Neutron, OVS, ML2, OpenFlow, Nicira, etc. Please find me on Twitter @alkari if you are developing or implementing any of these technologies and like to present them to our user group, hopefully you are in Portland on that date (or if you'd like to visit Portland - the snow is awesome on Mt. [openstack-community] Error during multi-region setup.

Hello, I am trying to implement multi-region setup with OpenStack. I have two nodes with following configuration:- First node (node1):- Installed components:- MySQL, keystone, nova, glance, cinder, horizon, heat, ceilometer. Created two endpoints for each services with regionOne as this node and regionTwo as next node. Second node (node2):- Installed components:- MySQL, nova, glance, cinder, horizon, heat, ceilometer. All services are using node1 as auth (keystone) server and with local database. With above setup i can see two Regions at Horizon (Dashboard) of node1 and can create networks, routers, images at regionTwo. Hi, Recently, have started tinkering in openstack project. Could anybody please let me know. May i create a VM with 8-cores and 8-GB ram? If i have provided below infrastructure. I am using virtualization enable 10 machines with 2 core, 4GB ram in each machine.

Hi, IaaS is all about elastic computing. I can stretch resources as per my need - increasing/decreasing the number of cores, RAM allocated etc.. My question is - how does openStack achieve this elasticity for both computation and RAM. If I create an image with 2 cores and 4 GB RAM (and one day I need to increase this to, lets say - 6 Cores and 12 GB RAM), but all the physical hosts that I currently have (for Compute and RAM) at my disposal have a max of 4 Cores and 4 GB RAM each.. Using openStack - a) is this possible (as long as the total cores and total RAM required is less than the group-total) ? If yes, how is this achieved. b) or the elasticity will be limited to 4 Cores/4GB (The max capacity of a physical host) ? If no, then is it possible to achieve it ?

Hi OpenStack experts, Could you please, help me out on this? I need your experts advice. I am trying to build VlanManager environment with OpenStack grizzly on Cent OS 6.4, but it doesn't work. I am using all-in-one architecture (single-host). FlatDHCPManager successfully worked. So, I am assuming that there is any bug/defect that VlanManager can't work with single-host architecture. Does anyone know if there is such a bug related to VlanManager on single-host architecture? Any pointer or letting me know anyone who is familiar with this would be highly appreciated. [openstack-community] Bringing focus to the Operators and Users at the next summit

Thought I'd post this here too (because of the noise in the general list)... G'day OpenStackLand, I have an idea for the next summit to put forward... Like we have the various project design summit session days at the summits, I think it'd be really useful to have an Operators and Users day at the very start of the next summit (and hopefully all of them in future if it works out). So far at the last 4 summits I've attended, from the users and operators point of view we've had a rag tag bunch of disconnected panels and 40 minute sessions that really don't get anywhere much and don’t make it to any sort of plan or worthwhile result. This proposed "Operators and Users" day will be run like the design summit session days where all of us that have to deal with the consequences of the software development of this project sit in a room and work the issues. The goal is to present real world, evidence based Operator, User, and even other input like Sales and Marketing experiences back into the development teams. Maybe we might even have our own "Operators and Users" lounge too. :-P Cheers Tristan

[openstack-community] OpenStack Groups Portal - Update 2013-13-10

Hello folks, another status update from this project. The site is almost ready for a preview and two last things are missing: - the scripts to allow continuous deployment and integration in production - the integration with the OpenID provider Marton is going to be working on them this coming week so hopefully we'll have the site ready to be tested more widely soon. The official OpenStack OpenID provider should be ready for testing soon but if we can't get that this week we will start testing with Launchpad. We've received already an offer from the Drupal community to help us with the integration with meetup.com. I am drafting a blueprint here: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/openstack-community/+spec/osugportal-meetu… The idea is to not to force existing users of meetup.com to move away from it while we still allow for groups.openstack.org to be the place where people can find *all* activities related to openstack anywhere in the world. What sort of use cases would you like to see for this integration with meetup.com? Let me know.
