[openstack-community] New user groups workflow

Hello folks we have a few requests for new groups pending on the new portal, I think those are visible only to me, Tom, Marton (since he's the uber-admin of the site) and probably the Ambassadors. I think the portal should send an email notification when a new group is proposed. Maybe notify this mailing list? This way more people can immediately engage with the candidate group. Hi all, I'm using ubuntu-14.04.2, installed API package by following apt-get command: apt-get install -y nova-api nova-cert nova-common nova-conductor nova-consoleauth nova-novncproxy nova-scheduler python-nova python-keystone python-glance python-mysqldb python-novaclient novnc But I can't find any /etc/api directory, so I can't edit api-paste.ini, please help!

[openstack-community] reorganized mentor/internship pages on the wiki

hello folks since we have at least three established programs that offer opportunities for people to be mentors and internships during the year, I consolidated some of the material on the wiki that was scattered across. There is now a new entry on How To Contribute: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/How_To_Contribute#Mentoring_and_finding_men… A page to collect all the established programs for internships: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Category:Internship A consolidated list of ideas for projects that are good candidates for internships: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Internship_ideas and a consolidated list of mentors https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Mentors In the process I have edited the pages of Outreachy, Upstream Training (and lightly touched some of the GSoC) to remove duplicated information and pointed to the new consolidate pages. I have also created new categories Internship, Outreachy, GSoC for the wiki, so we can group pages with common themes. There is still a lot of cleanup to do, like harmonize the https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Internship_ideas so they all look as pretty as the GSoC ones and keep consolidating information so that it's easier to keep track of the results of each internship. [openstack-community] [upstream] Getting the training material ready: Landslide or hieroglyph?

Hello folks, Upstream Training Vancouver is open and people have started to sign up. Tim Freund and Chris Ricker are two confirmed trainers, we're waiting for at least one more trainer to confirm availability but as in other cases, the more the merrier: we will need help in the classroom and after the summit, with online mentoring. We'll be using this mailing list to coordinate, using the tag [upstream] in the subject. One of the first things to do is to fix the slides for Vancouver. They are in a git repo: http://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/training-guides/tree/doc/upstream-t… Currently they are in landslide format, although there was a request to port them to Hieroglyph in order to reduce the requirements.txt in all our projects. I have made an attempt at porting to Hiero https://review.openstack.org/#/c/132395/ but at the same time Sean Roberts started setting things up for landslide in https://review.openstack.org/#/c/141226/ I think we need to just pick one format, I don't care much which, and provide the content to trainers. OpenStack DefCore Accelerates & Simplifies with Clear and Timely Guidelines [Feedback?] Last week, the OpenStack DefCore committee rolled up our collective sleeves and got to work in a serious way. We had a in-person meeting with great turn out with 5 board members, Foundation executives/staff and good community engagement. TL;DR > We think DefCore deliverables should be dated milestone guidelines instead tightly coupled to release events (see graphic on Rob Hirschfeld's blog). Scaling OpenStack Neutron Development During Kilo cycle, Neutron's team has made an effort to expand and scale the Neutron development community. Plugin Decomposition and Advanced Services Split were designed to enable a more scalable development environment which will allow for fast code iteration in all the areas affected. How have we done with these? OpenStack + Kubernetes = More choice and flexibility for developers Sometimes a demo can go almost too well. By the time Craig Peters and Georgy Okrokvertskhov took the mic to show how OpenStack support for Kubernetes makes managing Docker containers pretty much a point-and-click operation, the crowd at the Kubernetes San Francisco meetup was almost hoping for a glitch. Instead, in just under 10 minutes, the pair did a seamless walk-through of how to set up a Kubernetes cluster using OpenStack in the final demo of the night.
