[openstack-community] Onboarding interested contributors to Openstack

I have an idea and hoping to get some thoughts on whether it's a good or bad idea. Something I've been hearing the last couple summits is folks who have seen the light and want to get involved with the project is that they don't know where to go, where to start since the amount of information covered in the docs and projects they cover can be pretty overwhelming. Especially for the first time. One of the ways I've seen complexity successfully navigated for newcomers is through a sort of guide/mentor program where someone hears what the newcomer determines the interest level, what they want to do, advises them where the greatest need currently is in that area, makes the necessary introductions and basically guides them through the process until they are in a project. Is there plans that accommodate interested people to get onboard with a sort of guided assist or mentor? If not per se, would there be any interest in it? Maybe not as its own program but as a Community sub-program that amounts to a welcoming committee. Is this something that resonates with anyone or is it already being done somewhere? [openstack-community] Official Paris Summit Schedule is Live

The official OpenStack Summit Schedule is available here. We received an incredible 1,100+ submissions for the Paris Summit, and had to make some tough decisions for the schedule. The final sessions were chosen last week and everyone who submitted a proposal was notified on Friday - August 22, 2014. All accepted and alternate speakers received free codes to register to the Summit. Email notifications were sent from events(a)openstack.org or speakermanager(a)fntech.com. Please let us know if there is anyone who has submitted a session but hasn't received a notification from one of these emails. There is also the opportunity to present a Tech Talk in the #vbrownbag room. The TechTalks offer a forum for community members to give ten minute presentations. They have a small in-person audience and will be video recorded and published to YouTube. To participate, just fill out the submission form here. Please remember that the last day to purchase Summit passes at the Early Bird rate is this Thursday - August 27, 2014. We look forward to seeing you all in Paris! It will include promotional logo items plus reusable assets you can use for local events (banners, tablecloths, etc.) on a borrow or purchase basis. We request your input on promotional items. [openstack-community] Participation in OpenStack Pavilion at Gartner Data Center Conference

We are pleased to offer our community companies a pod in the OpenStack Ecosystem Pavilion at the [ Gartner Data Center Conference ]( http://www.gartner.com/technology/summits/na/data-center/ ), December 2-5, 2014, in Las Vegas. Eight companies joined us at the 2013 event, and were very happy with the quality of leads and conversations. All expo hall attendees must purchase conference passes so the audience is all high quality enterprise decision makers and influencers. Gartner analysts will also visit our booth during a scheduled time. Please respond by August 15 if you are interested and can commit to participation at $15,000 to $18,000 US each (depending on number of confirmed companies). We hope to be able to add an additional promotional opportunity this year to drive awareness and traffic. Here are quotes from last year's participants: "The lead quality was very high.
