Hey everyone, I've read recently on this mailing list about an idea of a "speakers list" for the meetups and wonder if there has been any progress on that. we're in the process of organizing a first OpenStack meetup in Stockholm<http://www.meetup.com/OpenStack-User-Group-Nordics/> in April and I was wondering about getting some keynote speakers that have some visibility within the community to kick-start the event. In the future proposed by John a transfers service would provide more predictable quality of service with horizontal scalability. Check his idea. [openstack-community] oVirt workshop coming up in Sunnyvale, California

Hi everyone, There's an oVirt workshop being held in Sunnyvale, California, on 22-24 January 2013, which I thought might be of interest to many here. http://www.ovirt.org/NetApp_Workshop_January_2013 - you can register free for the event at http://ovirtnetapp2013.eventbrite.com/ For those who don't know, oVirt is a datacenter virtualisation project, which is the upstream project for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation (think open source vSphere and you're not far off). There are a few OpenStack specific topics on the agenda - including one session specifically on Quantum and oVirt, and another session ("oVirt Roadmap") on the oVirt project roadmap, which will explore other potential integration points between oVirt and OpenStack (VDSM or oVirt drivers for Nova, integration of Glance into oVirt, etc). There is also BOF space available on day 3 where I would love to see a BOF exploring potential integration and co-operation between the projects. I wasn't sure if this would be on-topic for the list, so I checked with Stefano first - please do let me know if this kind of event is off-topic, and I'll abstain in the future. I thought that there was sufficient overlap both in technology and project scope that some of you would be interested, or perhaps just curious. Thanks! I look forward to seeing some of you there. [openstack-community] Announcing the Spring 2013 OpenStack Summit in Portland

Hi everyone, I think many of you have heard, but we've officially locked down the Oregon Convention Center, April 15-18, in Portland for the OpenStack Spring 2013 Summit. As usual, we’ll have a variety of content and tracks, ranging from user stories and technical deep dives to hands-on workshops. If you’d like to submit a presentation, panel or workshop, the call for speakers is now open and will close February 15. http://www.openstack.org/summit/portland-2013/call-for-speakers If you are interested in submitting a session for the Design Summit, a special track planning the development work to be implemented in the “H” release, there will be a separate system opening closer to the Grizzly feature freeze and closing after the Grizzly release in April. Summit attendees will again vote on speaking submissions to help determine which presentations are the best fit for our Spring Summit. We’ll also have subject matter experts serving as track chairs to make sure all of our audiences are well-served. If you are interested in being a track chair, please send me a note. The voting system will open on February 18, with the goal of locking the agenda by March 11. Event registration and discount hotel rates will be available the week of January 14. We would like to announce that our second meetup for Vietnam OpenStack Community will be held at Marcel Dasault, Francophone Institute for Informatics (IFI-VNU) on 4th January, 2013. Meetup 2 will especially welcome the presence of Mr. Do Hoang Khanh, a senior IT expert who is passionate about open source movement. He has also attended the OpenStack Summit last October in San Diego. In this event, he will share with the attendants his OpenStack experience. The proposed agenda is as below: Location: Marcel Dasault, Francophone Institute for Informatics (IFI-VNU) Time: 5 - 9pm; 04/01/2013 Objective: Review recent activities of Vietnam OpenStack Community and discuss OpenStack business opportunities at Business Management Level. Snack and drinks will be served during the meetup and dinner is offered by DTT Technology after the Event.
