Hi everyone,

Each January two of the Foundation member classes hold elections to determine their Board representatives for the year. The Gold Members held their election over the last 24 hours, and the Individual Members will elect their Directors starting Monday. More information is available online: https://www.openstack.org/election/2019-individual-director-election/

The voting for Gold Members has closed, and here are the Director Selectors and their intended Directors for 2019:

Canonical - Mark Baker
China Mobile - JunWei Liu
Cisco - Vijoy Pandey
City Network - Johan Christenson
DellEMC - Arkady Kanevsky
Deutsche Telekom - Clemens Hardewig
inwinSTACK - Joseph Wang

These directors will be seated after the Individual Member elections are completed along with the rest of the Directors at the Board meeting on January 29th.

This is the last time the Diversity and Inclusion WG is asking for your
assistance for our current survey in collecting data in regards to
diversity. We will be closing the survey on February 28th, 2019 in order to
start compiling the data.

We revised the Diversity Survey that was originally distributed to the
Community in the Fall of 2015 and reached out in August with our new
survey.  We are looking to update our view of the OpenStack community and
it's diversity. We are pleased to be working with members of the CHAOSS
project who have signed confidentiality agreements in order to assist us in
the following ways:

1) Assistance in analyzing the results
2) And feeding the results into the CHAOSS software and metrics development
work so that we can help other Open Source projects

Please take the time to fill out the survey and share it with others in the

Today the OpenStack Foundation Board of Directors held a teleconference meeting. The agenda was posted on the wiki beforehand[1].

To open the meeting, the Board approved the meeting minutes from the December 11 call. Next, Alan Clark thanked outgoing Board members and welcomed new Board members for 2019, who briefly introduced themselves. Alan then ran through reminders on Board policies and procedures to ensure everyone was familiar with them as we kick off a new year of activities.

Allison Randal gave an update on the work effort to draft guidelines for confirming pilot projects as full open infrastructure projects of the Foundation. She shared the current draft[2] and asked for comments and input. This week the work group will also be meeting with pilot project teams to get their feedback on the draft. The goal is to have a final set of guidelines ready for the Board to approve at the March 5 Board meeting.

Next, I presented some high level slides on the Foundation status, strategy and priorities for 2019[3]. We’ve already kicked off work efforts around these goals, and if any of you have any questions or would like to get more involved in any of them, please reach out to me.
