Our goal with the bi-weekly newsletter is to provide a digest of the latest developments and activities across open infrastructure projects, events and users. This week, we highlighted the Berlin Summit as well as brief updates from OpenStack as well as the OSF's four pilot projects: Airship, Kata Containers, StarlingX and Zuul. You can checkout the full newsletter on Superuser [1], and if you are interested in receiving the upcoming newsletters, you can subscribe here [2]. If you would like to contribute or have feedback, please reach out to community at openstack.org. Thanks! URL: From jonathan at openstack.org Tue Dec 11 22:43:33 2018 From: jonathan at openstack.org (Jonathan Bryce) Date: Tue, 11 Dec 2018 16:43:33 -0600 Subject: [OpenStack Foundation] December 11 Board Meeting Message-ID: <4393D645-466D-4252-8FC0-3DC909AF1741@openstack.org> Today the OpenStack Foundation Board of Directors held a short teleconference meeting. The agenda was posted on the wiki beforehand[1]. We switched to a new conferencing tool for this meeting and the normal meeting notification was not sent out to this Foundation mailing list ahead of time because of that. I apologize for that oversight, and we’ll correct it going forward. During the meeting, the Board approved the meeting minutes from the November 12 session in Berlin. Next, I presented a proposed budget for OSF for 2019. After questions and a discussion, the Board voted to approve the budget proposal. Finally, Allison Randal gave an update on the formation of a work effort among a subset of Board members to draft guidelines for confirming pilot projects as full open infrastructure projects of the Foundation. This discussion is just getting started, and there is an etherpad[2] that Allison created to gather feedback from anyone who has input. The goal is to come up with a set of points that the Board can use when reviewing pilot projects for confirmation. Some of these kinds of items have been discussed at a very high-level at previous Board meetings, including the September 18th meeting[3] (starting around slide 38). One other item to note: the election process for the 2019 Board of Directors is underway. Nominations are open until this Friday, December 14. Please visit the primary election page to read the details, see existing nominees, or nominate other candidates: https://www.openstack.org/election/2019-individual-director-election/ Thanks, Jonathan 1. https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Governance/Foundation/11Dec2018BoardMeeting 2. https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/BrainstormingOSFProjectConfirmationGuidelines 3. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/10UyCpxkjPqC3kT-dYRpBxzNT39i2OhlggJvzGDosMz0/edit#slide=id.g4274351d5e_1_392 From amy at demarco.com Thu Dec 13 02:30:31 2018 From: amy at demarco.com (Amy Marrich) Date: Wed, 12 Dec 2018 20:30:31 -0600 Subject: [OpenStack Foundation] [Diversity] New Meeting Time and Hiatus Message-ID: The Diversity & Inclusion working group will be moving its meetings from 19:00 UTC to 17:00 UTC going forward. That said we will be taking a hiatus until after the New Year and will resume meeting on January 14, 2019 at our new time. Hope to see everyone at the first meeting of 2019!
