From allison at openinfra.dev Wed Jun 22 16:53:47 2022 From: allison at openinfra.dev (Allison Price) Date: Wed, 22 Jun 2022 18:53:47 +0200 Subject: [Foundation Board] OpenInfra Summit Berlin Recap, Health & Safety Update Message-ID: <298BA3BA-FBFD-457C-9AA5-2099C5A0F87C@openinfra.dev> Hi everyone, Thank you to everyone who attended the board meeting (in person or remotely) as well as the OpenInfra Summit in Berlin. After 2.5 years, the energy was palpable as everyone reunited with the OpenInfra family in person. It was great to see so many familiar, mask-covered faces. I know not everyone was able to attend, but we wanted to provide an update following the event as we collect feedback to keep everyone on the same page. Summit Attendance and Outcomes We ended up with over 900 registrations, which was the perfect size for the venue we had selected, especially given our focus on creating a healthy environment. Among those attendees, 57% were attending a Summit for their first time, and they represented over 350 organizations and 60+ countries. This provided for a great week of collaboration, hallway track networking, and getting work done. Some of the key highlights include positive reception to the launch of the Directed Funding for OpenInfra project hosting. Thank you to everyone who helped move this forward as it led to several great conversations (and some promising leads!) throughout the week. If you weren?t able to attend and would like to meet 1:1 to get an update, please let me know. There was also a lot to celebrate including 10 years of Zuul , a new SIG forming around sustainability , discussions around the future of OpenInfra and AI, and more. Up next, we do have two more in person events planned. The next Project Teams Gathering (PTG) will be October 17-20 in Columbus. Registration and sponsorship will be available in the next few weeks. The OpenInfra Summit 2023 will be in Vancouver, June 13-15. If you are interested in sponsoring, we have pricing available, so please encourage your teams to set up time with Jimmy McArthur as we continue to build on the momentum coming out of Berlin. Health & Safety Update Prior to the Summit, we set a threshold of three positive cases before sending an update to all attendees. The timeframe was from the beginning of the event (June 6) up until five days of the event ending (June 14). To date, no positive Covid-19 cases were reported during the event, and only two attendees have notified us that they tested positive since, both within five days after attending the event. Now that the notification time period has passed, we are sending an all-attendee Health & Safety Update tomorrow with the above information. It will also encourage anyone who tested positive for Covid-19 in that timeframe to let us know so we can make sure we have the most accurate information. If additional cases are shared, we will provide an update to this mailing list, as well as all attendees, at that time. If you have heard of any positive Covid-19 cases from your team, please let us know. Any and all feedback is welcome - please let us know if you have any outstanding questions or would like more information.
