I would like to encourage all of you to __add your stories to our etherpad__, we already have a few started at the bottom for inspiration! It is enough to add only an abstract at this stage. Please add your name to your story as well so I can reach out to you with follow up steps and questions: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/community-blueprint For additional background: The stories are intended to focus on experiences that you or the community you work(ed) with, had, which either created an issue for the community or helped ensuring their success or long term sustainability. Our goal is to help OpenInfra and adjacent communities along with companies and individuals who launch and participate in projects to avoid making the ?usual? mistakes. The OpenInfra communities and Foundation follow the Four Opens as guiding principles. While we documented what these principles are, for someone who?s new to open source or haven?t yet had a good experience it is challenging to translate them into practice. The stories that we are looking for intend to help put the challenges as well as the Four Opens into perspective to encourage and enable open collaboration throughout the ecosystem. The next step, as we have more stories collected, is to start structuring the content. I will reach out again in January to organize our next meeting and sync up with all of you who are interested in participating. Regarding your comment about 'lack of technical engagement is sort of a limiting factor?, I think this could actually be a story. Background to my thought: There?s so much more going on within successful open source communities than just code development. I think it is very important to highlight, and you can do this by sharing an example of participating in a community while not writing code, or the opposite, if you have an experience where you felt excluded because you?re not a developer. At the same time, contributors -who are contributing on behalf of a company,- who become successful within a community and stick around for an extended amount of time usually have good support from the company they work for. It?s crucial that the company understands how open source communities work as well, it?s not enough to leave all that to the individual, while pushing the person on product deadlines and customer requests constantly. A story about this would actually not talk much about working in a community, but what it entails to enable and support people who do. What do you think? Thanks, Ildik? ??? Ildik?
