We are going to make these regular calls so we will have chance to attend in next call if anyone missed for any reason. I also feel that starting the initial call will help us to shape/plan it better for next meeting. -gmann > > > > On Mon, Aug 1, 2022 at 9:08 AM Ildiko Vancsa wrote: > > > > Thanks Johan for pointing that out! > > > > I will create a poll to find a few options in September. After discussing with community members and prospective sponsors, we have made the decision to pivot the event to 100% virtual to make the event as inclusive as possible. I know that this is not the ideal outcome and there are a lot of factors contributing to this decision, but we think it?s the best decision for the community. We are continuing to receive feedback on the value and importance of in-person PTGs; we just need to wait for other factors to be less of an obstacle. We have already notified the participants who were already registered and provided full refunds. We will be posting on the project mailing lists momentarily. We are going to use the same week for a virtual PTG and it will be free to attend, just like the previous ones. The registration is already live [1]. If you have any questions or feedback on this decision, please let us know. We will continue to monitor feedback as we make plans for a 2023 PTG. I gave a short overview about the progress with this effort at the recent OpenInfra Board of Directors meeting on the 2nd of August. The feedback was overall positive and new ideas came up during the short conversation we had during the call. The main discussion explored the concept of describing culture and providing input for decision making through sharing stories and experiences, that we?ve had throughout our journey in open source. The option to organize a follow-up call also came up, so we can dive deeper into the above idea and overall content of the new document(s) we are planning to create. To capture interest, I created a poll with a few options for September: https://framadate.org/5jNiF8t8C7oH71pj __If you are interested in participating and sharing your comments, experiences or stories please fill out the form by August 24.__ As a reminder, here are a few resources you can look into for further details: - Repository: https://opendev.org/openinfra/way - Open review to add seed content: https://review.opendev.org/c/openinfra/way/+/851768/ - Further details about the Community Blueprint idea: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/community-blueprint Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Greetings everyone, Just following up from our call which ended moments ago. Overall it was a great call, and provided good insight into where Kata is at, and where it is going, as well as some of the current challenges. Unfortunately, We did not determine a good time to meet again as the call did run a bit longer than I think we were originally planning and we started to have people who needed to move on to their next calls. We will need to follow-up and do that, however it seemed like in about three months might be viable. Specifically, two challenges were noted that the Board can help with: * CI Resources - Specifically CI is mainly run on one of the major public clouds through some resource donations. This is primarily as nested virtualization is a requirement in this case. ** Two of the board members on the call were from different OpenStack operators and are going to investigate ** Additionally, some of us are going to try and raise nested virt as a topic for OpenDev during the upcoming PTG, in regards of maybe finding a way to provide a "Nested Virt only" sort of flag/constraint which will have a wider benefit. * Raising awareness/feedback loop - Kata has expressed difficulty in obtaining feedback and raising awareness. Mainly they are finding operators who make use of the software, generally don't talk about their use cases and their successes. Most awareness of major successes takes a pattern of $amazing_detail being mentioned in passing. This is something which the board may wish to discuss further and possibly brainstorm, as this is a challenge which is not unique to Kata.
