Excellent. Kudos on figuring out how to move the archives.

Thanks,
Mark.

Subject: [Foundation Board] Foundation Board mailing list updates

Hi everyone,

Starting last year, we discussed several different methods to open up the majority of the Board’s mailing list communications. Over the last several meetings it seems like the consensus that has bubbled up to the top is to have a mailing list that is open for non-Board members to be able to view. This would be operated in basically the same way as the Technical Committee and User Committee mailing lists to facilitate communication for specific groups. In addition, a confidential Board mailing list would be used for the limited number of things that need to be communicated privately to Board members only.

I’ve worked with the Infra team to work out the technical details of making the switch and we want to move forward with it tomorrow. Here is the current plan.

1) Create a new confidential Board-only mailing list at foundation-board-confidential at lists.openstack.org

2) Move the existing Board archives to the foundation-board-confidential mailing list

3) Open up the foundation-board at lists.openstack.org mailing list a la openstack-tc

This means that all messages prior to the switch will remain in the private archive.

Any new messages posted to THIS list (foundation-board at lists.openstack.org) would be public, including if you were to respond to a previous message in your Inbox that was on the list prior to the switch (i.e. don’t respond to old threads on this list). In the rare cases where something new needs to be communicated confidentially it would be sent to foundation-board-confidential at lists.openstack.org.

I wanted to give everyone a heads up before the switch, and I will provide another notification if we make the switch tomorrow. Let me know if anyone has any questions. Thanks,

Jonathan
