[openstack-community] Online Presentation of Tripleo 0:00UTC May 23, 2013
Please join us for an online presentation of Tripleo - OpenStack on OpenStack given by Robert Collins on May 23, 2012 at 0:00 UTC: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20130522T20&p1=1194 hosted by the Canadian OpenStack User Group: http://canstack.ca/ This presentation will take place virtually using bluejeans.com. You can connect to the meeting from the canstack webpage: http://canstack.ca/ Here is the link to the meeting: https://bluejeans.com/119008447 Bluejeans allows you to connect to the meeting several different ways including: browser, skype and telephone. You can watch Robert Collins' Tripleo presentation from the OpenStack Summit in Portland: http://www.openstack.org/summit/portland-2013/session-videos/presentation/op... We are looking forward to Robert's presentation on Tripleo. He probably will reiterate of some of the basic concepts from the summit, as well as sharing any new Tripleo developments with us. After the presentation we hope to have some time for questions. We are anticipating ~ 30 minutes of presentation and about 20 - 30 minutes of questions but given the nature of the venue we will probably be fairly lenient with time frames. Since bluejeans.com doesn't have a chat feature please join us on irc.freenode.net #canstack for chat during the presentation. Since this meeting is virtual, you are welcome regardless of where you happen to be located. You don't have to be Canadian or in Canada to attend. However the app only allows for 15 connections, so 14 plus Robert. If you can buddy up or attend with a friend, that would help us out. Any questions? You are welcome to email me or find me on #canstack, my nick is anteaya. You can also email the canstack organizer, Curtis Collicutt at curtis.collicutt@cybera.ca, Curtis' nick is serverascode. Hopefully someone will record this and put a video online later as i am interested in watching. So far it seems though that: * 'linux' is an unsupported OS for using the browser * latest version of skype implies the stuff that isn't in the linux version * microsoft lync - unlikely * google chat is failing via empathy for an unknown reason. * I don't have an ipad * am not willing to phone in internationally. Hope it goes well but bluejeans may not be a great hosting service for a community that is largely linux based. Let us know a link. Thanks On Tue, 2013-05-21 at 21:06 -0400, Anita Kuno wrote:

I can confirm that Skype 4.1.0.20 under Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit works well with Blue Jeans. Last time I called in, everyone could see and hear everyone (including shared screens), and they could see and hear me. Regards, Tom
Thanks

Hi all, to clarify i did eventually get in with skype, i'm not sure why it failed the first time i tried. I'm on fedora and skype is not always right so let's put it down to that. Thanks for hosting this, it was very interesting. Jamie On Thu, 2013-05-23 at 11:03 +1000, Tom Fifield wrote:

Glad you were able to log on. If you have suggestions for something like bluejeans that works with more operating systems and clients we're totally open to switching. We may have to move to Google Hangouts in the future anyways, but would love to hear of alternatives. Thanks, Curtis.
Thanks for hosting this, it was very interesting.

Hi Jamie: I am glad you found the #canstack irc freenode channel and were able to join for the last portion of the meeting. Thanks for your feedback on your experience trying to connect to bluejeans.com. I hope that you will continue to idle in #canstack so that we can discuss other options for communication and include testing on your environment so that we do a better job next time. I appreciate your passion for trying to join us and I am sorry that your first impression was fraught with challenges. Hopefully, with your help, we can do a better job for others. Glad to meet you and thanks for speaking up, Anita. On 13-05-22 08:17 PM, Jamie Lennox wrote:

Me too, by the way :) If there is a recording I'd be glad to watch it.

I've never used bluejeans.com but audio/video collaboration is a sore point for everybody. If you have ideas on how to stream audio and video reliably across continents I'd be happy to hear your suggestions and provide help to implement them. /stef -- Ask and answer questions on https://ask.openstack.org
