Vancouver Summit Recap

During the Summit’s opening keynotes on Monday—themed “Let’s Build the Open Infrastructure Economy”— we outlined the technical and cultural challenges that face operators today: building environments that require integrating multiple open source components for use cases ranging from edge computing, to AI, to Container Security, to CI/CD.

Recent milestones highlighted in the Summit keynotes include:

• Launch of Kata Containers and the release of Kata Containers 1.0
• Launch of Zuul as an independent project
• Publication of “Leveraging OpenStack and Kubernetes” white paper, highlighting cross-community work
• Expansion of OpenLab support of integration testing, including additional hardware and environments and numerous shared solutions that can be replicated by users.
• Formation of the Edge Computing Group and publication of a white paper addressing emerging use cases. All are welcomed to join the weekly meetings.

Three additional keynote sessions were held on Tuesday and Wednesday, each featuring innovative ideas and provocative challenges. Watch the keynotes here:

In addition, the experts building the future of CI/CD met for two days at OpenDev, a conference for automatic testing, continuous integration and rapid software delivery, collocated with the OpenStack Summit. The cross-community event was programmed by leaders from Zuul, Spinnaker, Jenkins, XCI and Mesosphere.
