Hi Sylvain,

The best way, to ask group organisers to add their own user groups, and rename the OpenStack France to OpenStack Paris. They need to login to the portal with their openstack.org accounts and submit a new group registration request. For the France group Erwan is assigned as an Organiser, but originally Pierre Fraund was enlisted there, he need to login first, and join to that group, and me or Erwan can give him an organiser role.

Very cool and useful, thank you Stefano!

I have a question about regional groups - it seems like US city meet-ups
are counted as separate user groups, but in other places like France or
the German speaking countries, the regional groups get included in the
national organization.

I added Rhône-Alpes to the wiki page as a separate group (as we had our
own meet-ups, scheduling, organisers) but (and, I'm behind the times so
this may be a conscious decision of the organizers) it's been rolled
back into OpenStack France.

Should each independent meet-up/user group have its own entry, or is
this a conscious decision to encourage regions in countries like France
to collaborate at a national level? In which case, that begs the
question, what makes the US different?

Thanks Dave for raising up this question.
Just to be clear, the OpenStack France meetup is now actually the OpenStack *Paris* meetup but the URL is still the same unfortunately. The OpenStack FR association is trying to provide support for all the french-speaking meetups, so the Rhone-Alpes meetup is kinda partnering with OpenStack FR like it does for the OpenStack Paris meetup too.

So, related to the group.o.o website, I think we need to point each regional meetup (because that's what the geographic portal is providing).

How can I get credentials for fixing this ?

Thanks,
Dave.

Hello folks

the OpenStack User Groups portal is the online place for all user groups around the world to use. It's designed to be an aggregator of information from different sources, so user groups can continue to exist wherever they feel most comfortable (meetup.com, facebook or other places) and the information they produce be visible on https://groups.openstack.org.

Today the portal is the place to find:

* the full list of known OpenStack user groups
* a dynamic map of user groups
* an aggregation of all upcoming events[1]
* static content
   - Community code of conduct
   - organizer tips (copied from the wiki)
   - how to contribute to the portal

One of the cool features of the portal is that you can join groups and be notified of new events when they're created.

Another cool feature is that groups that don't want to use meetup.com, can create a group on the portal with an easy point-and-click interface. Because this feature is now available, I have disabled edits to the user groups wiki page [3].

The portal is built on Drupal Commons and is fully open sourced, managed within the OpenStack Infra team. Contributions are welcome. The groups portal is available in multiple languages already, although content is not translated yet. The plans for the future are kept on https://storyboard.openstack.org/#!/project_group/58

Anybody with an account on http://www.openstack.org can join the portal: please join the portal, play with it and let us know what you think.

Cheers,
stef
