Hi Loic,
Since you already organize trainings maybe you already have pre-built sets ? Any idea you have to try and resolve this would be good to hear :-) We have several box of Lego Classic, we don't have any set of house, castle etc. Our Upstream Training was about 30 students maximum, so it is not sufficient for the next training in Tokyo (approximately 50 to 60 people?).
I have started discussing with other members what we can do. The simple one is we will help pre-build using your parts and our parts before the training. We can carry the assembled Lego by taxi to the venue. Other options are preparing more parts in Japan by purchasing.
For the Vancouver event, Stefano found a Lego-as-a-Service provider who rented the boxes. I think it would make sense to find quite the same provider within Japan, because it definitely saves costs IMHO.
How much did it cost ? Do you have pictures of the Vancouver buildings ? Cheers
Takashi, do you think there are some Japan companies doing that ?

Hi,
Great :-) I was planning to fly over with 40 to 80 pounds of lego spare parts (that's what I have at home). But we also need pre-built buildings such as the one at http://dachary.org/loic/upun-6-7/. In Paris we had six prebuilt buildings (one for 10 participants) and it made for a great display at the end http://dachary.org/loic/group2.jpg
We tried shipping the existing pre-built buildings but found that it's quite difficult because they are fragile (therefore likely to break and probably take more time to repair than to build a new one from scratch) and long distance shipping of fragile items is almost as expensive than buying new ones.
A solution that worked in Atlanta was to buy lego sets and have them delivered to someone local and willing to assemble them and bring them with her/him to the training (thanks again to Chris Ricker for that ;-). The bonus being that the person gets to keep the lego afterwards (makes children very happy ;) because they cannot be conveniently shipped to the next training location. In Vancouver legos were hired from a local lego company. And the legos from the Paris training are in my attic in Paris should someone need them for training in this area.
Since you already organize trainings maybe you already have pre-built sets ? Any idea you have to try and resolve this would be good to hear :-)
Cheers

Hi Loic, and all,
I am happy to support Upstream Training in Tokyo!
Japan OpenStack User Group already had done Upstream Training in Japan version 3 times, so we have support you in many ways. Of-course, we are living in Tokyo.

Hi Loic -
That is a good point! I have moved the registration and first contact to August (the earlier the better).
Thanks,
Tim
Hi Tim,
Participating means someone needs to plan arrival two days in advance and book the flight tickets accordingly. Wouldn't it be better to open registration as soon as possible ? I see you planned it for September but
Cheers
