OPENSTACK AT INDUSTRY EVENTS
The OpenStack Foundation will have a booth at KubeCon <http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/kubecon>, which gathers leading Kubernetes technologists from multiple open source cloud native communities to further the education and advancement of Docker, Kubernetes, and Cloud Native architectures. This event is co-located with CloudNativeCon, Nov. 8–9, 2016, in Seattle, WA.

OpenStack will also have a presence at SuperComputing16, which takes place this year in Salt Lake City, Utah on Nov. 13-18, 2016.  More details to come in the next marketing bulletin.

APP HACKATHONS
Over the past month there has been a series of trainings in Guadalajara as build up to the Cloud Application Hackathon. Training included the latest techniques to build ‘cloud apps,’ use of SDKs/APIs, new design patterns for “cloud apps,” and plenty of opportunities for meeting fellow “Cloud Application Engineering” as an emerging profession. The hackathon will take place Sept. 9–11.  The winning team will be flown to the OpenStack Barcelona Summit.  
If you are interested in hosting a “cloud application hackathon” please get in contact with the co-chairs (Michael and/or Gonzalo) via the corresponding Working Group (CloudAppHack-WG) via the User Committee mailing list.  A call for proposals will be put out to the community soon for hackathons building up the Boston and Sydney summits.  All communities members are encouraged to participate.
There will be several activities run at the Barcelona summit providing more information on the activities required for an OpenStack hackathon, including the pre-training offered, as well as the format of the event.  Hackathons have averaged 300+ attendees in Taiwan and Mexico, with significant international social media and national media coverage.
